why i hate induction! | | i went 12 days over with my first baby, i was booked in for a stretch and sweep but the midwife forgot to come to my house to do it (apart from this slip up i had first rate care!) i went in for a routine checkup and my blood pressure had soared sky high and i was told to get my butt to hospital right now! we got there at 3 in the afternoon and i had my first pessary at 6pm. i was told it probably wouldnt work the first time and i would need another in 6 hours. about 8pm i had bad back ache and nausea and then all of a sudden my contractions were 3 minutes apart lasting about 1 minute and i was in agony! i needed gas and air and the about 10pm decided i wanted an epidural, because of my blood pressure i had a drip in one arm, a blood pressure monitor on the other and a clip on my sons head. so spread eagled on the bed i couldnt move and i was in too much pain to not have the epi. the epi then started to move up my body instead of down and they had to keep tweaking my nipples to make sure i still had feeling, very dignified!! when i decided i needed to push i was told i had to wait another hour, yeah right! the longest hour of my life! when i was allowed to push it took me about 3 pushed and my son was out. i would never choose to be induced as i had no warm up contractions to get my body going. all in all 14 hours of hell! but he was worth it |
