I was taken into hospital on my 14th overdue day to be induced. They started the induction then left me for 3 days because another local hospital had closed its maternity unit and all women in labour were being sent to my hospital. I was only taken through into delivery to have my waters broken when I threw a massive wobbly and demanded to go home or another hospital!
Finally had my waters broken and went all the way through labour to finally get to pushing. At that point they decided my daughter was facing the wrong way! I was pushing for 2 hours and she wasn't budging so they tried forceps - which failed. Ended up having an emergency c-section in the end as I had picked up an infection and was continually throwing up. To make things worse my midwife had said she would be a small baby and I was carrying loads of water - she ended up being 9lb5oz! The infection I had was passed onto my daughter who ended up on the neo-natal unit for 5 days being pumped with anti-biotics. Spent 10 days in total in hospital and it was a joke - they even managed to lose my notes and I had to keep reminding them about my medication!
I was definately glad to get home!
