c section or not to c section! | | at 38 weeks i found out baby was breech, i was sent to hospital to confirm by a scan (well 3 actually!) i was booked in for a ECV the next monday which was cancelled on the day because of not enough amniotic fluid. Planned c-section booked on friday. came in for c-section, waited 3 hours to go to theatre. had pre ops and just having last mintute scan, guess what, baby has turned! c section cancelled. through out the following week i felt no movement, went in twice daily to be put on monitor to check baby was ok. 40 weeks (due date) consultant got bored with me and said to come in next day to be induced.
came in next day, was induced at 10am, had scan and found out baby was obleek-(laying slightly off centre, although still head down-sort of!) was told to stay in delivery suite incase baby turned breech-again. baby had turned a couple of days before but turned back whilst in routine appointment with community midwife. this kids got tallent!
3 hours later and after Grant went home to see our other baby girl (14months at the time) consultant came in to check progress, decided to do scan as i felt a bit uncomfortable. "your baby has turned transverse-lying flat, you are going to theatre-NOW!"
Grant was called and just made it back, after i pleaded with the aneastitist to wait another 5 mins for him to get there. spinal went in and another 10 mins later, little jessica rolled into the world!
that was the most traumatic week of my life!!!! |
