First time not always long time | | Hi I thought id share my birth story. My son was due on the 13th March 06 and no way would i go that long i thought! I was as big as a house with a temper to match. I was HUGE! I was fed up I couldnt lie down flat, couldnt eat after 3pm or id be sick in bed with heartburn, couldnt tie my shoelaces or put on socks, couldnt see where my ankles had been, and couldnt for the life of me remember why id gotten pregnant in the first place.Anyway the litle bugger was overdue and i had a stretch and swep to move him on a bit. The midwife wasnt keen but i threatened to sit in the waiting room and scream until she did it. she knew i wasnt kidding. Anyway i was told first time birth would be ages and id be in labour for hours if not days. I felt a cramp in IKEA on the 13th and said to my hubby, get me to John Lewis if im gonna have a baby in a shop i want free quality stuff. No such luck and the bit about free stuff if you deliver in a shop is a myth. Sods. I woke up in the 14th with a poo pain. Not too bad i thought. Bugger me was i wrong. I vomited with the pain and cursed every woman id ever met who had kept the dirty little secret of how bloody painful it is. I got to the hospital in 20 mins and delivered an hour later. So much for my total sensory deprivation and back up drugs i never even had time for an epidural. I asked though boy did i ask! They said i would nt have time and i told them to get that drug sorted and they could sod their gas and air. Luckily they didnt hold it against me. I was slightly horrified that i had a baby after all that. It was so quick i hadnt had time to think. He really didnt feel like mine and i passed him straight to daddy. weird eh? You wait so long and then i didnt really know what to do. it took me a week to bond. |
