Baby Charlie was born ON HIS DUE DATE 29/09/08 at 8:17 a.m. AT 10 POUNDS 3 OZ!!!!! Unfortunately I was not able to go with the natural birth that I had planned...and had to have a c-section, but I really could care less because he is beautiful!!!!
On sat 27 I started having contractions. They became timable that evening, however were not close enough together to go to the hospital until the next morning. When they were about 4 minutes apart we went in to the hospital...and I got checked.
Unfortunately at that time I still was only dialated to 1cm, so at around 1:00 p.m. they sent us home to keep laboring until they were a lot more intense and closer together. I spent all day sunday laboring at home, and then at 1:00 a.m. my contractions were 3 minutes apart and very strong and we went back to the hospital. At the time we got there and they checked me...I was still at 2-3 cm and was having huge OFF THE CHART contractions. They had me labor there from that point for 3 hours...I walked with my bf, and tried the birthing ball, and the shower etc.....and for some reason nothing worked.
My contactions started coming 1 & 1/2 minutes apart and were excruciatingly painful and I had only dialated to 4 cm. I broke down at that point and got the epidural. It releived the pain, and I was able to sleep for 2 hours, however, it caused my contractions to slow and begome irregular, and I did not dialate any further. They broke my water to see if that would help, but it still didn't do anything. AT that point around 6 am they noticed that when I would have a contraction, Charlie's heart rate slowed tremendously and the slow heartrate lasted until 30 seconds after te contraction would end, so they put me on some oxygen to see if that would help him. and it seemed to, but I still was at only 4 cm.... so they decided to try pitocin. Pitocin caused the problem to come back with a vengeance, so they told me that I had to get a c-section. I was in the Operating room almost immediately, and out almost as quickly!!!!!
At 8:17 A.M. on his due date 29/09/08, Baby Charlie made his entrance to this world weighing in at a WHOPPING 10lbs 3 oz!!!! and 20 1/2 inches!!!! WHooooie!!!! The delivery room staff were shocked and amazed at the size of this boy and he was the talk of L&D for the whole rest of the time we stayed.
