Default My labour

Unlike most i'm afraid i dont have a horror story. I actually enjoyed my labour (weird i know) i went into labour on my due day and after 24 hours of ions went to Mayday hospital in croydon and went into their birthing centre 5 cm's by that point. I was lucky enough to be able to get the birthing pool i wanted. So got in the pool and had my gas and air, was really relaxing and my midwives were great. I had the same ones from start to finish. after 10 hours in the pool joseph was born into the water. Such a magical moment. And because i was in the birthing centre my husband was allowed to stay the first night with us. It was great.

I can't believe it - you must be the only person I know that had a good experience in Mayday's maternity department! I thought the labour ward staff were fabulous but the ward staff were rude, unhelpful and uncaring!

dont get me wrong debi, it wasn't perfect, joseph got admitted to scbu when he was a week old and i had to stay on mary ward so i could feed him on demand, i was there for just over a week and the midwives were so rude!! and the same with the nurses in scbu, some were nice but the ones that were horrible really topped it. One woman on the ward even found a big fly in her cereal, not pleasant. The birthing centre on the other hand is excellent. My midwife was actually 30 weeks pregnant. Dont know how she did it!!

That's lovely! I've not been in the birthing suite and my first 2 spent a week in SCBU. I found the SCBU staff wonderful when mine were there but that was 9 and 8 years ago now. I thin it depends - you have to be lucky enough to get the right staff on the right day!
