Ok well I was due the 26th January and I KNEW i wasnt gonna go into labour although I was told I was in slow labour, I had a midwife appt on the 29th January for a sweep if i wanted it! Of course i wanted it
She said it can take up to 48 hours to work....2 hours later I was having contractions
I tried everything to make the pains go away, I must ave had about 4 baths in 24 hours, I didnt sleep a wink!! It got to about midday on the 30th January and I couldnt take anymore! I got Dom to phone the maternity depatment and they asked where the pain was, Dom asked me and I said its in my lower back (I was told he was back to back!) And they told him i had a UTI anyway we phoned back 3 hours later and they said come in, in an hour, so we did, I was left waiting in the waiting room for an hour! Anyway I was put into a room and examned more or less instantly, I was 3cm dialated
I was also offered pain relief, I took the gas and air straight away! About an hour later I had pethedine.
After that it went a bit down hill. my temp went up to 39 & my bp went up to something like 92/130 so they decided to act fast! I was put onto a drip and re-examined, I was fully dialated and could finally push!! I started at 10.50pm and an hour later they intervened, I had an epesiotomy
and about a gazillion stitches! I was actually so high I asked for forceps
And finally at 00.12am on the 31st January after 32 hours of labour Harvey Matthew was born
