i went through 24 hours of hell with my 1st, she was positioned back to back with me and i was pushing for 2 hours with horrendous back pain. In the end they gave me an epidural ready for an emergency c-section and all the pain just melted away i could have kissed the woman who did it. i was so relieved. I really wanted to give birth naturally, but she just got stuck. She also had to have the crash team to revive her as it had taken so long, the only good thing was i didn't know what was happening, but my hubby did and he was terrified cause everything was taken out of our hands. I was v. lucky and was up and about quickly but i didn't bond as quickly as i had hped, i felt all the decisions were being made for me. I suffered with pnd, don't know if the birth contributed to it. i was then told that it would be dangerous for me to have a natural birth so with my 2nd i had an elected c-section and i have to say what a positive experience it was as for me the 1st birth was tramatic and the 2nd was just so calm and enjoyable, i'd been exhausted on my 1st but i felt rested and ready for anything with the last one. so i think it depends on the circumstances with c-sections but obviously if i 'd been able to i'd have wanted a natural delivery, but things don't always go as planned.
