I'm 23. I don't mind, I had no idea what it was or anything till I became ill and had a load of tests and I went back for the results and he told me, I was like what on earths that. Bit of a shock really, I'll have it now for all my life, it's treatable but not curable. When I was ill I first caught diorreah and sickness off my daughters, only problem mine didn't go. Then I got told I had IBS and given Imodium, THAT WAS THAT, I had terrible stomach cramps and started to bleed. I had tests and found I was aneamic and my liver was functioning abnormally, anyway when they sent me to hospital I was in for over a wk and I lost a stone and half. I then had to have a camera test so they could see and that's when I was diagnosed after a biopsy confirmed it. Anyway the treatment at first is steroids, which make you put a lot of weight on, while you're on them you have to take calcium. And you also take some tablets that sit in your intestines etc and sort of protect them from becoiming inflamed. They can't leave you on steroids for a long time so then you're put on immune suppressants which I'm on now. You've just got to have regular blood tests with them to make sure there not harming you. Sorry for going on but I just want to give as much information as I can, as I knew nothing when I got it. If anyone wants to ask a question feel free, I won't mind. |
