some nites i let my daughter who is almost 17 months, cry to sleep, not often tho as i worry incase she go's into a fit from crying, as its been known b4 to happen! Depends really wot type of day i have had. tia can be a right madam and bugger, and stress me all day, the last thing i want to do at 7.30 is lay in the room with her rocking her to sleep for a hour, so i sometimes let her cry, she only crys foor the longest is aprox 10mins, then shes sound asleep! i feel bad in doing it, but if i cradle her to sleep, she will expect it all the time.

Within reason, I've let mine cry. Any sensible person knows when to see to their baby and when to leave them to have a little whinge - it doesn't do any harm.
I'm lucky though, all 4 of mine have slept 12hrs at night by 8 weeks.

with jessica she was a constant cryier until we got the news she had reflux when she was 6 weeks old I even had to take her into bed with me at nite cos she wuldnt settle ne other way and I was so tired... she was put on nestragel to help and when she was 4mths old it went away....

With emma tho she is so spoilt and has me rapped round her finger it mite have somethin to do with the fact I nearly gave her up for adoption when she was born (please dont judge me tell u no why).. I had hard time with Jess and no partner to help and so another baby was not want I wanted but no I wld not be without her altho she does wake at nite still for drinks etc ... I get up to her nearly 4 times a nite

I agree with Charley - I think we're a pretty good bunch, and wouldn't judge anybody, and as much as we all like a good old gossip and a bit of a laugh, we're here for the serious stuff too. Any time you want to chat, I'm normally around ***.

My baby was sleeping through from nine weeks but at about 5months she started playing up and I made the mistake of getting her to sleepm in my arms or n bed with me every night which meant I was in bed with her for approx 20mins every night just settling her. Well I got fed up doin that and decided to let her cry, it broke my heart the first night but after 4days of doing it I put her in the cot and within 5 minutes she was asleep I was so happy with myself I was smiling for the rest of the week and telling everyone about my latest acheivement!

At times it feels like they are never gonna go to sleep alone but stick it out and you will win in the end!

we used to let benjamin cry within reason but then discovered his asthma so we stopped as he would cry then cough then be sick so we no longer do that but we do have to sit with him for a while sometimes but i usually read him a story talk about his day tell him i love him then let him watch his dvd sometimes i've had to sit on the stairs for an hour or so marching him back into bed..nut on the whole he's good at going to bed. (likes his duvet too much like his mummy!!)
