I'm moving

Just though Id share the news that we are moving!

We have been living in a two bedroom flat which we rented cheaply off my kind Uncle, but with my daughter soon to be on her feet I wanted something a bit bigger with gardens. The flat for us was a temporary solution when we came back from Greece to live here again, so it was never forever.

We can get nothing from the council as we are not "priority" so we are having to private rent again at a cost of £500 a month (thats about average). A lot of money I know, but its a 3 bed semi in a good area and so much bigger and better than what we have now. It peeves to think that I could pay half rent if the council would give us something but we've got no chance unless we plead homeless and then they will just put us in a bedsit/flat anyway, so why put ourselves through it all?

Im lucky my parents are helpng us out about by having it all painted up for us, without them none of this would be possible.

Im excited and scared at the same time. Its a lot of money to pay and with only one wage coming in things will be tight.......so ladies.........Im to quit the fags! Yep, something has to give in order for extra pennies to be found..........so wish me luck because Im so going to need it.

congrats chic. you still wanna stay on the council list though,as you never know they might offer you one of there places in time.or if you start to struggle with the rent tell them you cant afford to private rent,then theyve gotta do something.

The council waiting lists up here are bizzare. Obviously the most needy first, but for people like me it goes to who has been in their property the longest. So by moving I will go to the bottom again. Some people on the list have been there years, so the chances of me getting one are really slim.

I will keep on though and if we do struggle with the cost of private rental I'll keep on at them still.

Its just so frustrating. We can only get a mortgage for about £80,000 and you cannot buy anything for that, so we have no choice but to rent. Even if I returned to work, which could only be part-time because of my daughter, I would lose all Tax Credits and it really wouldnt be worth my while. The system is crazy! My other half works all the hours god sends and yet we feel we are worse off in many ways. It just all seems so unfair.

Sorry I'll shut up, the "SYSTEM" is a sore point with me, gets me all angry.

god hun thats a really good price of rent for a 3 bed semi detacthed we like in a semi detached 2 bed & we pay £550 a month! but it's a lovely area so can't really complain

We pay £110 pounds rent a week which isnt too bad where we are staying and its a 2 bedroom house. We have the biggest Backyard in the street too. lol
