Pictures!!!

Hi everyone,

I'm Johanna.

I am working for Essentials magazine in London and am doing a story about vintage fashion at the moment.

It is a picture story on fashion from the 60's, 70's and 80's that is back in style today (e.g. maxi dresses, wedges, flared jeans, ruffled mini skirts, safari gear, tunic dresses, jumpsuits, high waist trousers or skirts, leggings.... etc.).

For that I am looking for women, who are aged 30 to 55 today, who’d like to contribute with a picture of them wearing one of the above BACK THEN (not a current picture but one back from the 60’s, 70’s or 80’s).

There is no interviewing involved. If you want to participate you can just email me your picture (plus the following information: full name, age, town of residence, occupation, marital status, name and age of children). Of course we would also like to know when the picture was taken and why you liked what you were wearing then.

The story will feature 6 to 7 women - so you are not alone

why women aged 30 - 55? my mum has some great pics of herself in the years mentioned but she's in her 60's. sounds a bit ageist to me.

i think that sounds like a great idea, i love the fashion at the mo, amazing how things come round again, i am only 22 so unfortunately no pics of me from 60s or 70s. lol. (thats probs why age thing happyhappylady)
love to know how i can get my hands on an artical like that, i absolutely love fashion. x

we are looking for women in that age range so our readers can identify (who are aged 30 to 55). sorry.

but thanks for your response anyway - maybe you can think of someone else you know in that age range...

i can identify with someone in their 60's (am 31) - how do you know your readers cut off at 55? sorry if i seem awkward, i have a bee in my bonnet about the stereotypes of older people (prob cos my o/h is 64 and so i'm now aware of it)

i get what you are saying and think you are absolutely right. but unfortunately that is how the magazine business works - if your average reader is younger than 55 you won't print pictures of women older than that. that's the rules.

unfortunately I'm not yet in the position to change them...
