What age did your baby start sleeping in his/her own room?

Hey all,

Its probably to early for me to put my baby in his nursery at nights at the moment, he's only 4 weeks old. plus he only sleeps in his moses basket for the first part of the night, then he wont sleep unless hes laying on me listening to my heart beat. Ive managed to get him in some kind of routine over night, he wakes up every 4hours for a feed. im trying to work out a good time to try and get him to sleep in his cot in the nursery.

What age was your little ones when they started sleeping in their own rooms?

Hi lucie, with my son who is now 6, he i beleive was about 2 when he started to sleep in his own room. when he growed out of his cot, i had a small bed in my room that he slepted in next to my bed.

with my daughter, she was the same as your little one, wanted to go asleep on me, well for her i had a moses basket downstaires and a cot in my bedroom, i would sit downstaires with her, let her fall asleep, then slip her into her moses basket and she would sleep in there untill i went up to bed. when i went to bed, i would carry her upstaires in her moses basket and put the moses basket with tia in it straight into her cot, it worked a dream. shes at a terrible stage now where she will not sleep through the night, she still wakes up for 3 bottles dureing the night.
personally i wouldent rush into putting ya son into his own room, coss where there young (up to 6 months) there so fragile and at risk of all types of things, keep him close to you untill his at least 6 months so your there incase he ever needs you

hello.. i got both of mine in their own rooms when they were 6 months!! well actually i didnt go by age, i just waited until i'd got them sleeping thru the nite and it just turned out that they were both roughly 6months!! when it comes to kids there is absolutely no rite or wrong time... just do what feels rite for u and what works for the baby!!! u'l kno wen its time to put ur babe in the nursery!! :smile:

i put benjamin in his own roon around 6mths & had him in a proper bed by the time he was a year old he loved it...

Mine were all different, first went into own room at 12 months, 2nd was abot six months, 3rd was about 3 months and 4th was about 18months!
Depends on you and your baby - you'll do it when the times right!
