| | I know that feeling it is the same here in leicester... there is no community spirit here anymore... i was brought up on a farm i would go back there any day, yet when i came to leicester I thought i was in heaven... i had a bus over the road... school two mins walk away.... i would go back to walking 2 1/2 miles there and the same back twice a day to take the kids to school and an hour on the bus from the school to get shopping.... its a better life than estate life

| | ive lived an estate life for 33 years now.some of it has been bad but most has been good. the estate were on now just needs a few little things to get sorted, and it will be really nice. i dont think id like to live any where else, as being on an estate you always know that some one will help you out when you are in trouble. |

| | Ok right I am coming to live near you clare.... lol
here everyone is in for themselves... of course they expect me to help them in times of trouble but it doesn't work 'tother way round.
On farms in farming communities... every one knows everyone and there really is a community spirit, but life is alot harder as there are less amenities and luxuries as there are here.

| | since living away from my mum which is now 10 years, not any of the neighbours have asked to borrow stuff. in the flat where we lived first, there was a lady above us,she once asked ant to open some beans for her as she couldnt do it.our second flat we had no probs with neighbours borrowing.now in this house we hardly see our neighbours, yea we hear them but thats it.

| | thats so true chic. i know ppl who used to really be shit kids, most of them turned to drugs and have died, or have been in prison. on the estate where i was brought up most of the kids were ok, but you had the odd few that were total a holes. i used to hang around with a bad gang but i always knew when it was gonna cause trouble to get out of it. im not proud of myself but i used to steal money from my mum. by money i mean no more than a £.i know it was still wrong but i had no choice,as my mum was a single parent she could only give us 20p a day for sweets, the ppl i hung around with used to pick on me, so i knew if i had the same amount as them they would leave me alone. i have always regretted it.

| | *hugs hun*
for the drugs thats so true to my brothers are on Heroin and Cocaine and so are my parents, i do believe one of my brothers as stopped taking heroin now but takes exticy (spelling) and crapped and it all started cos my mum let his start smoking weed and crap at 13 she actually gave him some, i started smoking at 8 and she let me, she used to let us do what we wanted she'd leave us in the house alone and we'd wake up and didn't have a clue where she was and i hate her for the way she brought us up, i'll do anything to be a better mother than her, cos even if a child wants to smoke and crap no child deserves to be allowed!

| | even though mum was a single parent i had quite a good home life. mum tried her hardest, she even went without food so me and my sister could eat. she worked while we were at school, and was always there when we got home. we were never left in the house alone. not at an early age anyway. dad used to come up on a sat, he used to buy our school uniforms and stuff for school. yea we were told off when we done wrong but never beat. we were smacked which didnt do us any harm. my sister turned to smoking so she could be big like her mates. i tried it didnt like it so didnt do it again. ive never taken drugs. im totally against it. every smack head deserves all the bad things in life they get. if i have a child it ill be brought up the way i was .
