Default Cruel kids!!

I am trying to organise my son's 6th birthday party and i have asked him what freinds he would like to invite. He has informed me that recently the kids at school have been quite nasty to him and although he wants to invite some of them after what he has told me i am loathed to do so. Protective mum coming through! My son has Cerebral Palsy, he tries really hard to keep up with his his peers playing in the playground etc but he cant run like they can and stumbles and fall easily. I just want to be all protective of him, i hate other kids calling kids names aor saying they wont play with him because he walks funny GRRRRRRRRRRRRRHHHH feel quite upset really.

I spoke to his teaching assistant that he has one to one with and she seems a little concerned about what is happenning at the moment, my son just wants to have friends like all children and he is a lovely boy, he is always smiling!! His TA is going to do a project with all the children this week and get them all to do my sonn's physio he has to do dailty, make it fun to show them what he has to do in order to be able to keep moving an walk, i am hoping this will help. Sorry i feel quite cross at present- kids can be so cruel!
As for my sons party i will do thte invites but God help those who take the mick out of huim at hiis party - ijust hope they wont

Sorry moan over

Love
Karenxx

that must be very hard for your son i feel so sorry for him reading this as i know how cruel kids can be, it must be hard for you watching him so upset i personaly have always been touched my children like you son despite what they go thorugh they always smile, my little boy has an erbs palsy on his right arm due to a problem birth and his elbow isnt straight and his shoulder blade wings badly he also has physio by me and 1 at the hospital but i worry that when riley gets to school ages that he will get picked on as he has problems writing and things but otherwise looks normal to every1 else but he has to have an occupational therapist wehn hes five did u have this and how did u cope with with it no 1 notices at the mo but they will realise when he starts getting help, i hope those horrible kids stop treating ur little boy this way ur son is probably and always will be a much stronger child than they ever will be xx

I hate it when children are so petty. In my opinion alot of it comes from the way that parents deal with aspects like this. I always tell my children that people are all different and that what makes us special. If anyone has disabilities that makes them more special and sometimes need extra help & love. My 4 year old has a little downs syndrome boy in his nursery class & thinks the world of him. He understands that his friend can't really speak very well so says hello & waves so his mate can wave back. When he asks if he is ok he will put up his thumb so his friend will put thumb up for yes or down for no etc. When his teacher told me what he does in class i stood ten foot tall, now the majority of the class do the same. It just goes to show how children are influenced by others. The teachers in class could probably do more aswell. I hope your boys stay happy
