Default pushy parents!!

i want the best for my benjamin like any mother but it really bugs me when children get pushed into doing things by their parents just because it looks good. whatever path or whatever benjamin wants to do in life i will back him 100% i'd rather him grow up & have him love me for showing him guidence & letting him choose his own things in life rather than him grow up resenting me for making him do things he never wanted to do in the first place

well said pinky! i am the same i want my little boy to succeed in life but i will never puch him into doing anything such as after school clubs or extra tuition i want him to make that choice himself not make him do it if i make them choices for him i will end up doing it for him all his life, i will teach him how to get what he wants from life and encourage him to have an education but never force him into anything x

I agree - I'm behind my kids 100% with whatever they choose to do, but I'll never make them do anything they don't want to (with the exception of going to school and tidying their rooms! haha)

there was a programme on tv last night (well early this morning lol) about extra curricular activities
was so blooming daft, they were sending two year olds to learn sanskrit/mandarin/yoga/ballet ffs!!
was even some who were taking their 10week old babies to these classes!!!
really made me think tho, seems like most of em were sending their kids to every class going (some had classes every single day) to keep up with everyone else
they were all saying how they wanted to give their kids the best chances etc etc but didnt get the kids views
what happened to letting kids have a childhood
have never pushed my kids into doing extra classes or owt, if eldest shows an interest fine but not gonna push her into summat cos i think its best for her, happy for her to be playing with her friends n just being a kid
childhood is too damn short these days, why cant parents just let their kids be who they are rather than trying to force them to be what they want them to be
rant over lol

I hate the whole pushy parents thing too, when I used to work at Pontins we had disco dancing weekends and some of the girls were about 4/5years old and they were covered in fake tan and make up with their hair immaclate and little skimpy outfits, its wrong at such a young age especially if the parents are keener than the kids!

I think I will try and encourage Ruby to go to college cos my mum didnt wiv me and I wish she had done now. Although my mum is great and gave me chance to make my own decisions and learn from my mistakes

i think britney spears is a classic example of pushy parents!!! poor girl.. shes in a rite mess now.. and i think if she weren pushed so much she may have had some kinda normal life and wudnt now be completely mad!!! yea she became famous and had no. 1 hits... but she obviously weren happy wit it all coz she'd still be doing it now!!!
