eek that's a hard one. I know this is really personal but is he copying someone? if your fella has hit you he will copy and grow up the same. My daughter went through a phase of hitting me, one thing I did was grab her hands when she tried to hit and say 'no'. I also had a 'naughty kitchen' where I would put her and shut the door - just for 2 minutes. another thing is to try and understand why - if he's frustrated if he can't talk properly, or not gettting as much attention if you're too tired. also it might be an idea to speak to your health visitor or doctor or sure start. good luck, let us know how you get on!

he definately isnt copying, my husband would never hit me although we did start smacking his hand when he was naughty but we have stopped that as i didnt seem to help and i think thats why he thinks its ok to hit me. he cant talk properly yet and i think that buggs him, we have put a play pen up and when he is naughty we put him in there for 2 minutes, its just worrying cause we r having another baby soon and i dont want him to hit the baby.

if hes not talking properly yet, he might just be frustrated because he cant tell u what he wants.my boy went through a phase of hitting, when he was able to tell me what he wanted he calmed down alot.

I think he may change when the new baby arrives. My elsdest was very naughty when he was that age and I had the came worries that you have about him hitting the newbon baby i was expecting. However as soon as i had my daughter he changed so much, into such a caring little thing wanting to do so much to help. The little brother/sister might be the making of him, it certainly was for my son. As for the play pen that is a good idea so just stick with that for the moment and when he starts talking properly he may improve as that could be his problem. x

My family are a great help. I'm 1 of 13 including step brothers n sisters etc, well 3 of them don't live nearby, so I'm one of 10 who all live in the same town so there is always someone to help, we all look after each others kids etc. So i might pick up my brothers from school, or take them to footy or vice versa. It's great! Hubbys family don't have anything to do with us though, it's all my family!
