well,my son morgan turned 2 last week, and doesnt even say mama or dada yet,or much at all for that matter.ive asked for lots of advise from different sources, and generally ive been told not to worry,he will speak when he is ready, everyone is different.but of course i still worry.his public-health nurse came to visit and suggested speech therapy, she thought this was wise, and i am really happy to bring him, only we cant get an appointment until 6 months time!! he was born 14 weeks early,so this is common for preemies, but it also happens with others and i know it is fairly annoying.i can only recommend bringing your little one to speech therapy as soon as.that should help.

I shouldnt worry too much, my middle one spoke pretty much babble until he was 3, now he never shuts up. But my youngest is 14 months and he says, mummy, daddy, shut the door, get down, juice and stitch (the dogs name) and None of my others spoke that soon or clearly, but then he does have to hear me shout alot so thats probably why hes picking stuff up. However my others were both walking by 10 months and hes still not 100% sure whether to do it or not. They are all so different and pick things up at different times, try not to worry too much, you'll be telling him to be quiet in no time.

Yes it all depends on the kids. One of mine was still only saying the odd word when she was approaching 3, yet another saying quite a few words just before she was 10 months. It all varies between kids. Like melanie said, if nothing has happened within the next few months try speech therapy x
