hi

my 13 year old son has adhd, he was diagnosed when he was 4. i'm quite lucky though he is on the milder end & we hve been able to control it without tablets. i have to say he's got better as hes got older, he knows what will start him off & tries to avoid getting into situations that could get out of hand

hi there,

im a mum to 4 kids, my second daughter Amy whose 11 and a half, had adhd, does my head in,shes on equassym 3 times a day, and it does help, but doesnt cure the problem, weve recently moved 5 months ago to lincolnshire from essex, and she had probs at her last school, and seems to of draged them here, i thought it would be better but isnt, shes told teachers shes preg, and been raped at knife point by 16 yr old boyfreind, all complete nonsense, thank god the school knows that, im awaiting a referral from my doctors to a lincoln child peadatriain, been waiting since jan, shes got a statement of special needs that took me 2 yrs to get in essex for her, this means she goets 20 mins extra tuition a day on some subjects she finds hard.
But it makes life so hard and she drains you, i have to treT HER LIKE MY 6 YR OLD, AND THINK OF EVERYTHING FROM SCHOOL uniform for her to swim kit today etc etc, im fed up with it,
she get diasability ebenfit and carers allowance that does help.but whats worriesd me shes off to secon dary school in september, and the school shes at now says she wont cope wioth it, as she wants to control everyone, and boss everyone to be her freinds etc, shes never been invitied to a party as a younger child, and never has any freinds.

so i know how you feel , my other children havent got adhd thank god, id go mad lol.

take care
jen.

Default hi all

thanks for all the replys. i dont feel so alone now. i find people dont understand adhd. my daughters behaviour is a nightmare when we go out and people tell me shes naughty and needs a good slap. ive started telling them to mind there own business now coz i used to get upset. shes on eqesym 20 mg in the morning and methylphenadate 5mg in the evening which helps. i couldnt manage if she wasnt on tablets. shes nearly 6 and has been on medication for a year.

hi
i have a three and a half year old son who has adhd and autistic traits

i had got to the point where i was nearly going mad what with everyone telling me it was just a phase "the terrible twos"

i knew that i was right that there was a problem and i stood my ground and finally got a diagnosis

things are really starting to improve for us now but i know that we have a long way to go

i am deermined though to be strong and i know my family and i cna deal with it

my thoughts go out to all those who are going through similar troubles and so i have posted what migght be a usefull link i have gained some really important info from here
