Default too soon to laugh about but had to tell...

we have just come back from having a great day walking around morcombe (even though it was freezin cold it pleased the kids to be out of the house) anyway on the way home down the motorway we seen a couple of broken down cars and we said 'thank goodness it wasn't happenin to us.' All of a sudden my partner had to pull up and told me something has just happened to one of the front tyres. it turned out it had popped. my partner had stupidly forgot to take his insurance papers and couldn't remember what company he was with. Anyway, he managed to phone his friend who kindly brought the spare tyre. In the mean time me and the children at to sit on some steps near some horse stables, freezing cold. the woman at the stables was really nice and brought blankets for the children and offered me a cuppa. she also offered to give me and the kids a lift home but i am wary about whos car i get in esp with the kids so we had to stay on the steps a little while longer.
Thankfully the wheel was finally sorted and now i am sitting in my dressin gown, hot chocolate and the fire on, whilst my children are upstairs watchin the labrynth with hot choc and toast with big blankets.
Like i said i am not laughin about it just yet but i'm sure i will by tomorrow when i feel a little warmer. i was really worried about the kids bein cold but they sat there sayin 'we had fun and can't wait to do it again, thank you'
oh well at least they were happy. next time we plan a day out i will have a check list: 1. spare tyre 2. insurance papers 3. a flask of hot choc 4. blanket......

oh yeah. now we are all nice and warm. and the kids have fallen asleep on the bedroom floors with their blankets over them. so my partner can carry them to bed soon.
i wonder if they'll have a lie in tomorrow after the day they've had. We let them walk on the beach and collect shells (and my 3 yr old picked up a lot of stones), they went to the arcades and spent a £1 plus all off thier winnings (and it was my 3 yr old who kept winning quite a bit) then we spent a while on the motorway.
Even if they only sleep for an extra half hour it'll be worth it but knowing our luck it will be the usual 7.30am start.

I'm glad you got home sfae chic x

We have only broken down once & that was on motorway. My stepson lives just outside kettering which is roughly 80 miles from where we live & we'd took him back on a sunday tea time as normal. I was 8 month pregnant & car went boom & died on us, when stu rang breakdown company they told us it had expired, they'd sent renewal to his old house where ex lived who bionned it & didn't think to tell us, so nice! anyway had to wait for emergency tow off motorway then go to house of chap that towed us to wait to be towed home, First chap was contratcted to police so on constant call. I was scared to death i'd go into labour but not half as scared as those who towed us home. I find it quite funny now but didn't at the time
