Hi there Mums-Room
I am a freelance journalist writing an article for a weekly women's magazine and would love to speak to a mum about the credit crunch.
There's a £100 fee for time and trouble.
Have you experienced a downturn in income? Perhaps you or your partner have been made redundant and you've had to start tightening your belt.
However, the words 'credit crunch' don't mean much to children. They still want new trainers, days out at Legoland, treats at the supermarket, lunch at Macdonalds, holidays to DisneyWorld ('but so and so's been!), cool breakfast cereals...
What's a mum to do?
I'm looking for a mum to take part in a chatty article on the subject for a weekly women's magazine.
She will have recently experienced less money coming in than usual. She needs to tell the kids that they can no longer afford treats and luxuries but doesn't know where to start. She doesn't want them to worry about things like bills and money but needs to explain that essentials like council tax, food, and petrol have to come first. And how do you explain that lunches and day trips out all cost a small fortune? She's tried a million times to explain that money doesn't grow on trees but they just don't seem to grasp how it works. They also don't appreciate why you get so upset when they lose a school coat or expensive toy that you saved up for. ('Can't we just buy another, Mum?').
The mum's children need to be aged under 11 and taking part will involve photographs being taken.
