Default Shatner still unhappy with Kirk's death

William Shatner has revealed that he is still unhappy about the demise of Captain Kirk in the movie Star Trek: Generations.

The actor said he wished he had held out for a more impressive death scene for his iconic character, who fell from a cliff in the 1993 film.

He said: "The mistake I made was thinking I could make it a spectacular death with what they had written."

The 76-year-old, who played the role on TV and film for 27 years, is disappointed not to have a cameo in JJ Abrams' upcoming eleventh movie in the franchise, and feels a story could be created to bring him back.

However, USA Today quotes Abrams as saying: "You and I could come up with dozens of ways, but every way that we came up with felt like it was transparently fan boys trying to get Shatner in the movie."

Shatner responded: "JJ doesn't need to worry about being a geek. He's a fabulous moviemaker, and this is science fiction."

It was reported last month that there was still a chance that he could appear in the film.
