Coronation Street youngster Chesney Battersby-Brown is apparently taken into care after the authorities find out he's living in a rat-infested house.
The teenager, played by Sam Aston, 14, was left to fend for himself with pal Kirk Sutherland (Andy Whyment) after his mum Cilla (Wendy Peters) left the Street for a new life in Las Vegas.
But the pair let the house become a tip and they can't afford to call in pest-control, so they take the situation into their own hands and lay down traps, whilst trying to keep the infestation a secret from their neighbours, reports the Daily Star.
A source said: "The rodents remain a secret for a while. But it's not long before the infestation starts to spread and their neighbours are forced to share their scurrying friends as well."
Eventually, Chesney is taken into a children's home, but he is delighted when Kirk brings his dog Schmeichel for a visit.
