Knitting Patterns - Mittens (3 Pairs)

Material: Campanula baby yarn or similar yarn, 1 (11 oz. ball) for each pair. 1/2 yd. ribbon for each pair. Knitting needles size 1 and 4 ( 1pair each).

Gauge: On no. 4 needles, 7 sts = 1".

Blue Mittens: Beginning at cuff with no. 4 needles, cast on 37 sts.

Row 1: (right side) P 2, * k 3, p 2, repeat from * to end. Row 2: K 2, * P 3, k 2, repeat from * to end. Row 3: P 2, * yo, with yarn in back sl 1 as to p, k 2 tog., p.s.s.o., yo, p 2, repeat from * to end. Row 4: Repeat row 2.

Repeat these 4 rows 4 more times.

Beading Row: K 1, * you, k 2 tog, k 1, repeat from * to end.

Hand: With No. 1 needles, k 23 rows (garter st).

Shape Top: Row 1: (K 2 tog, k 4) 6 times, k 1. Row 2: and all even rows, Knit. Row 3: (k 2, tog, k 3) 6 times, k 1. Row 5: ( K 2 tog, k 2) 6 times, k1. Row 7: (K 2 tog, k 1) 6 times, k1. Row 9: (K 2 tog,) 6 times, K 1.

Break yarn, leaving an 8" end. Run end through remaining sts, draw sts tog tightly, fasten securely.

Finishing: Sew seam. Draw ribbon through beading.

Pink Mittens: Beginning at cuff with no. 4 needles, cast on 37 sts.

Row 1: K 2, * p 1, k 1, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k 2. Row 2: K 1, * p 1, k 1, repeat from * to end. Row 3 and 4: Repeat rows 1 and 2. Row 5, 6, 7 and 8: Repeat rows 2 and 1 twice. Repeat these rows 2 more times.

Beading row: K 2, * yo, k 2 tog, k 1, repeat from * to end. Hand: Work 23 rows of pattern.

Shape top: Row 1: (k 2 tog, work pattern on next 4 sts) 6 times, k 1. Row 2 and all even rows: Work even in pattern. Working pattern stitch, complete and finish as for blue mittens above.

White Mittens: Beginning at cuff with no. 4 needles, cast on 37 sts.

Row 1: K 4, * p 1, k 3, repeat from * to last 4 sts, k 4. Row 2: K 2, * p 1, k 3, repeat from * to last 2 sts, k 2. Repeat these 2 rows for 2".

Beading Row: K 1, * yo, k 2 tog, k 1, repeat from * to end.

Hand: Next row: Purl. Work stockinette st for 2" ending with p row.

Shape top: Row 1: (k 2 tog, k 4) 6 times, k 1. Row 2 and all even rows: Purl. Working stockinette st, dec top and finish as for blue mittens above.
