My pregnancy and birth

Hi there, would just like to share my story of my pregnancy with you. We had been trying for a baby for 3 months before I got pregnant, and when the little blue line came up on the pregnancy test I couldnt have been more shocked! I phoned my partner who was at his Mum\\\\\\\'s house, and told him to come home NOW!!! When he got in I had a huge grin on my face and he kept saying \\\\\\\"What is it?\\\\\\\", but I just couldnt think of the right words to say such an important thing! I just thrust the pregnancy test at him, and he started smiling as much as I was.
When we booked an appointment with the doctor he didnt do another test (since we had already done 4!!!).
At this point I started suffering really bad sickness, but like it says in all pregnancy magazines, \\\\\\\"its only morning sickness and it will go away at about 12 weeks\\\\\\\". Was even told this by my doctor, but I had hyperemesis (severe sickness) right through my pregnancy, up until I was in labour! I have never felt so awful in my whole life. Could barely get out of bed for the whole of my pregnancy, but there was more problems to come!
At 16 weeks I started noticing severe pain in my pelvis when I tried to walk even a few steps and was in tears when I had to attempt walking up stairs. My midwife informed me that I had a very bad case of SPD (symphisis pubis disfunction).
I was refered to a physiotherapist, and given a lovely girdle type thing that I had to wear and WALKING STICKS! Lets just say I have never felt so unattractive in my life!
I was only 20 years old, yet was in a worse state than my Granny!
The SPD and hyperemesis just got worse throughout my pregnancy and I was desperate to get this over with. My due date was the 24th April 2007, and on the 18th of April I started having small contractions. I went into hospital to be checked over, but was sent back home, slightly dialated. The next day (19th) my waters started leaking, and I went back to the hospital. Was that I would need to come back the following morning to have my baby as the risk of infection since my waters had gone was very high.
I packed up all my things that night. (I didnt even have a labour bag ready, was one of those things I just never got around to!) and prepared to be induced tommorrow.
When I arrived at the hosptial there was alot of waiting involved, as it was the busiest day that they had had in the hospital all year! When I was examined, I was 3cm dialated, so I was in labour just a very slow labour. I was told that I would be given a hormone to speed up my labour.
I was checked over and the Midwife thought my baby felt as though it was breech, so was given a scan and found out my baby was lying back to front, which would make my labour more painful.
When I arrived in the labour suite I was surprised that the Midwife told me she doesnt really deliver babies, and normally works in the surgical department with cesarian sections. When the midwifes changed shifts, I was quite relieved until the new midwife told me she hadnt delivered a baby in 7 years!
Because I was on the hormone drip I wasnt allowed to move... not even to lie on my side, which wasnt very good! I really wouldnt want to be on the hormone again. I was on the drip for only 5 hours before my lovely baby girl, Lucie, was born weighing 7lbs 3oz.
I do want more children but I keep thinking back to my terrible pregnancy and I wonder how I am meant to go through all that again, but next time I will already have a child to look after. LEts just say I\\\\\\\'d rather go through the labour again than the pregnancy.
