Train the baby
First comes speech, you teach him to talk
Next comes movement, you teach him to walk
The chat and the talk, but quieten again they will not
Running and walking endlessly even in their cot
Potty training, I will delay it until next week
Until you discover the nappy has leaked
Accidents happen in front of your friends indeed
After I told everyone how well you had done, you have wee’d
Next comes the dressing part, but then what?
If I make independence come, you are still a baby… NOT!
The baby I want to keep forever, but he has to grow
So the training continues, its all go, go, go
His first day at nursery is around the corner now
I’m having to let go slowly somehow
My baby no more, but a bonny baby boy
But forever you will be my bundle of joy
You learn the art of play with other kids your age
No longer in the playpen known as a toddlers cage
Next you’ve learned how to sit and listen to a story
But you fell asleep because it was read by a tory
Now you head off to primary school
Five years old, WOW! So cool!
Learning to read, write, sing and dance about
God help me! You’ve learned how to swear and shout!
No more a case of train the baby
But more a case of tame it, maybe?
Cantankerous, arrogant, snappy you’ve become
But still you will always have the love of your mum
